Question by hiddninja: Malawi 1964 One Shilling worth?
My mother found a silver (coloured, not sure about material) coin with "Malawi" and a man's head on one side, and on the other side, "1964" at the top, "One Shilling" at the bottom, and a picture of what seems to be corn, carrots, chili peppers, or something else along those lines in between those words. She claims someone told her it was worth something, and she wants me to find out but there's nothing online I can find about it, any help?
Thanks in advance.

The 1964 shilling from Malawi, a country in south east africa, had a mintage of 11,900,000 so it is not scarce or rare. The reverse has cobs of corn. The coin is made of copper-nickel-zinc and can be found in a coin dealers world coin box for around .25 cents. The first European to go there was the famous Doctor Livingston. The one good thing about coins, is that not all have a lot of value and collecting world coins and learning about other countries, can be fun and some what inexpensive.
